The Book Connection's Summer 2010 Book Giveaway -- Book Pack #5 (Gifts for Her)

Feeling lucky today? You should, because we are giving away two Book Packs this week in The Book Connection's Summer 2010 Book Giveaway!

Book Pack #4 was for the young'uns, but this one is for Mom.

Book Pack #5 includes:

An ARC of Daughter of Narcissus: A Family's Struggle to Survive Their Mother's Narcissistic Personality Disorder by Princess Diana biographer, Lady Colin Campbell.

Daughter of Narcissus is a stunning analysis by Lady Colin of her own dysfunctional family positioned at the heart of upper class Jamaican society from the middle of the 20th century to the present day. Covering the end of the British Colonial Age and the rise of a liberated generation, whilst addressing the narcissistic personality of her mother, the author brilliantly interconnects the sociological, political and personal. As she dissects the family dynamics lying beneath the appearance of wealth and power, Lady Colin’s understanding of personality disorder is revelatory: compelling the reader to comprehend the destructive and tragic reality concealed by rational language and behavior.

Set against a backdrop of glamour, wealth and fame, this compulsive book is both a fascinating history of one socially prominent family, and a uniquely detailed analysis of narcissism, its manifestations and how to survive them in order to lead a purposeful and affirming life.

Also included is an ARC of Alphatudes: The Alphabet of Gratitude by Michele Wahlder.

This book received great reviews during the author's virtual book tour with Pump Up Your Book Promotion. Alphatudes uses the alphabet to provide readers with simple ways to focus on the positive. From acceptance to laughter, and from passion to voice, this book will give you twenty-six easy ways to discover the secret of gratitude. You can read my review here.

And finally, a book I've had for a while, but didn't get a chance to read, Reunion: A Novel by Therese Fowler.

There's a funny story behind this book. I had it for while and decided to donate it to my daughter's school. Each spring they hold an Open House where they raffle off gift baskets created by each classroom. I had donated Reunion because this year's theme was Summer Fun. Don't you know that my daughter loved the gift basket her class put together and won it.

This sounds like a fun read: "Celebrity talk show host Blue Reynolds is the queen of daytime television—she is smart, funny, and as down-to-earth as her adoring fans. In the eyes of the world, she has it all. But no one knows about the secret she has harbored for the last twenty years—a secret that could destroy her image, her reputation, and her career. Twenty years ago, she gave birth to a son and put him up for adoption through illegal channels. And every day since, she’s been filled with regret. Now Blue has hired a private investigator to find her son, knowing full well the consequences.

"A week in Key West to do her show on location brings Blue a much-needed change of pace—and an unexpected reunion with an old flame, Mitch Forrester. Helping him launch a television series may help her recapture the kind of genuine romance and affection long missing from her life. But it also means having to deal with Mitch’s disapproving son, Julian, who is only nine years younger than Blue. Emotionally battered from his years as a war photographer in the world’s most dangerous hotspots, Julian struggles to get close to his father while making his disdain for Blue crystal clear—which makes his desire for her all the more shocking."

The retail value of Book Pack #5 is $59.94!
