Book Review: Unbridled Grace by Dr. Michael J. Norman

What would you do if you found yourself accused of crimes you didn't commit? What if your situation seemed so hopeless your attorney implored you to take a plea deal because it was the best offer there was? What if it looked like your life was over and there was absolutely no way out except to place your faith in a God you barely knew?

This is the story Dr. Michael J. Norman shares in Unbridled Grace: A True Story about the Power of Choice.

Answering a two-line classified newspaper ad, naive and fresh out of school Norman takes a job to help supplement his private practice. What he doesn't know is that his employers are members of a Russian organized crime ring. Soon finding himself accused of crimes he didn't commit, his situation seems hopeless. His attorney pushes him to take a plea deal, even though Norman maintains his innocence.

With the support of his loving wife, Laura, a dedicated attorney, a friendship with a priest, and a renewed sense of faith, Norman is determined to fight. He soon discovers that making a choice for God can lead to miraculous rewards.

I had absolutely no idea what to expect from this story when Dr. Norman asked me to help promote this book. It almost seems too incredible of a story to be true, but I've known others who have unknowingly been drawn in by organized crime without an inkling of what was going on. My husband had a cousin who went into hiding for years as a result.

Unbridled Grace is without a doubt one of the most powerful stories of faith and redemption I've ever read. To know what the Normans went through, to witness Dr. Norman's reaching out to a God he barely remembered, and to watch as he places his entire life and his family's future in God's hands, is so inspiring. I'm in awe. I've been a Christian my entire life and I still struggle with handing over control of my life to God.

Each chapter ends with a meditation that will inspire and move you forward on your journey with Christ. This would be an excellent book to keep by your bedside, so you can be challenged on a regular basis to make a choice for God.

I highly recommend Unbridled Grace by Dr. Michael J. Norman. Even though I know how the story ends, I'm ready to read it all again.
